Aarson Ear Model A simple ear model consists of three main parts: the outer ear, middle ear, and inner ear.
The outer ear includes the visible portion known as the auricle or pinna, which collects sound waves and funnels them into the ear canal.
The ear canal leads to the middle ear, where the eardrum (tympanic membrane) vibrates in response to sound waves.
Connected to the eardrum are three tiny bones called ossicles: the malleus, incus, and stapes.
These bones amplify and transmit the vibrations to the inner ear. The inner ear contains the cochlea, a spiral-shaped organ filled with fluid and sensory cells called hair cells.
Sound vibrations cause the fluid in the cochlea to move, stimulating the hair cells and converting the vibrations into electrical signals that are sent to the brain via the auditory nerve.
